Solar Sales will become one of the hottest jobs in the next two years. The Solar Industry is in its infancy, and many people are focusing on the installation side and neglecting the sales side. The average solar system sells for $20,000 and the commission received by the salesman that sells the system is close to 10%. Imagine making close to $2,000 on every sale you make. If you average just 2 sales a week, that is an income of $200,000 per year.
Now, due to the technical knowledge required to sell and install solar systems, you aren't going to be able to wake up in the morning and start selling the systems with great success. Besides having some sort of sales background, you will need to learn the terminology and also what is required with installing a solar system. Many people are going to frown upon spending $20,000 on anything, but if you learn the ins and outs of the system and feel confident in your sales presentation, you will succeed.
Besides having the knowledge of the system, you will have to determine how many panels are needed to produce a certain amount of power. This is fairly easy to figure out, but you must have the knowledge. Another important aspect of your job will be determining system placement. This job will be done by the installer, but giving them a good idea of what they will be facing will help insure their success and make sure your customer is satisfied.
